Time and time again I hear and have said a million times “swing at strikes.” That is so very important in any era, but it is often misleading as well. Learning to hit is knowing what pitches you can hit.  There are many hitters who cannot hit an inside fastball that is a strike, but can handle a fastball away.  Should the player swing at the inside fastball just because it’s a strike? We should be saying “swing at a pitch you can handle.”  Doesn’t always have to be a strike!
